Over the last ten years the two of us have spent more and more time in Donegal, and we've decided to make it home. We've bought Kinnalargy, a house up in Downings, and we're here for the long haul.
Davey John's Forge is our passion project, and we've been welcoming guests there from all over the world. We've been telling everyone about it in Turkey, in Ireland and in the UK for years, so it feels right to have the wedding there and finally get you all to see it for yourselves.
Have a look at the Forge
The day splits into two halves. The service and the lunch are the formal side of it, and the party at the Forge that evening is the celebration, which is the half most people are coming for. Your own invitation has the details and the timings for your bit.
This is the formal side of it, the service at Holy Trinity in Carrigart, the photographs and a sit down lunch at the Carrigart Hotel. A good deal more sedate than what follows.
Food, drink, music and a bit of craic, in the old forge above Mulroy Bay. Come when it suits you, there's no formal start to it, and it'll run well into the small hours.
- From 6pm
- A trad band plays as everyone arrives, so come when it suits you.
- The bar
- A bar on site with the usual Irish stouts and lagers, wine, spirits and mixers. If there's something you'd particularly like us to have in, tell us beforehand and we'll get it.
- The night
- We've a great band booked, playing in the Forge Workshop, and a DJ after them. Later on we're hoping the trad lads give us a few tunes and a sing-song in the forge building itself. See the renovation
- A first
- Both buildings are being restored right now, so this will be the first party ever held in the workshop where Davey John did his work. It all gets unveiled on the night, and we're as curious as you are.

- Driving
- About an hour and ten minutes from City of Derry Airport, a little over two hours from Belfast, and three and a half from Dublin. Knock is around two and three quarter hours.
- The minibus
- We'll have a minibus running all night between Carrigart and the Forge, and it'll drop you back to wherever you're staying. If you've booked a house somewhere, let us know and we'll put it on the route. Nobody needs to drive.
- Taxis
- The Forge is four kilometres out of Carrigart on a road with no footpath, so please don't try to walk it. Speedy is the local taxi on +353 87 655 5443, and Donegal Coaches on +353 74 915 5512 do airport transfers.
- The hotel
- The Carrigart Hotel is holding rooms at a wedding rate, so mention our names when
you book. They'll do a special rate as well for anyone who wants to stay longer than
the couple of nights around the wedding.
Their wedding rate for 23 to 25 October is €130 a night for a single, €150 for a double or twin and €165 for a triple.

- It's half term that week, and a few people coming over from Turkey and from around Ireland have decided to make a week of it. There'll be bits and pieces going on, a run out to Glenveagh Castle, the odd barbecue, and everyone is welcome at any of it. We'll send more about that closer to the time.
- Worth the trip
- This part of Donegal is a lovely place to spend a few days, with Mount Errigal, Fanad Lighthouse, the beaches at Downings and the golf at Rosapenna all close by. If you can stretch it beyond the wedding, we'd say do.
